Product Description
Our fabric reinforced seals provide a durable, high-performance sealing solution for demanding industrial, hydraulic and pneumatic applications. Manufactured by combining elastomeric compounds with internal fabric reinforcement, these seals offer enhanced mechanical strength, dimensional stability and resistance to wear compared with conventional unreinforced rubber seals.
The reinforced construction typically incorporates layers of cotton, polyester, nylon or specialist technical fabrics bonded to rubber compounds such as nitrile (NBR), neoprene (CR) or other suitable elastomers. This combination provides the flexibility required for effective sealing while helping the component maintain its shape under compression, pressure and repeated mechanical movement.
Fabric reinforced rubber seals are particularly suitable for applications involving high mechanical loads, abrasive conditions and demanding operating environments. The reinforcing layers help resist extrusion, tearing and deformation, making these seals useful in hydraulic cylinders, industrial machinery, heavy-duty shaft sealing systems and specialist equipment.
We supply fabric reinforced rubber seals in a range of profiles, sizes and material combinations to suit specific operating requirements. Bespoke seals can also be manufactured to customer drawings, samples or technical specifications, with material selection based on pressure, temperature, chemical compatibility and operating conditions.
Fabric Reinforced Seal Construction
Fabric reinforced seals combine the flexibility and sealing properties of rubber with the mechanical strength of textile reinforcement. The fabric layers are embedded within or bonded to the elastomer to create a composite structure capable of resisting demanding mechanical loads.
Depending on the application, reinforcement can be incorporated throughout the seal or positioned in specific areas to improve structural support. This helps reduce distortion, improve resistance to extrusion and maintain sealing performance under repeated compression or movement.
The type of rubber compound, fabric reinforcement and seal profile can be selected to suit the intended operating environment.
Rubber Compounds & Reinforcing Fabrics
Different rubber compounds and reinforcing fabrics can be combined to achieve the required balance of flexibility, strength, chemical resistance and temperature performance.

Types of Fabric Reinforced Seals
Fabric reinforcement can be incorporated into several industrial seal designs, depending on the required movement, pressure and sealing arrangement.
Hydraulic Piston & Rod Seals
Fabric reinforced piston and rod seals provide additional structural support in hydraulic systems exposed to pressure and repeated movement. Reinforcement is commonly used in selected U-cup seals, V-packings and multi-part sealing assemblies.
V-Packing & Chevron Seals
Fabric reinforced V-packing seals use multiple sealing rings arranged in a stack to provide effective sealing in reciprocating applications. The reinforced construction helps the rings retain their profile and resist extrusion under pressure.
Rotary Shaft Seals
Selected heavy-duty rotary shaft seals incorporate fabric reinforcement to improve mechanical stability and durability. Split seal constructions may also be available for applications where equipment dismantling is difficult.
Reinforced Rubber Gaskets & Strips
Fabric reinforced rubber gaskets and strips provide additional strength and dimensional stability for industrial sealing applications, including machinery, gates, flanges and equipment requiring resistance to mechanical deformation.
