Product Description
EPDM RubbaTile Playground Safety Tiles
Our EPDM RubbaTile playground tiles provide durable, impact-absorbing safety surfacing for playgrounds, schools, recreational areas and other environments where safety, appearance and long-term performance are essential.
Manufactured using a dual-layer construction, each tile combines an impact-absorbing recycled SBR rubber base with a high-quality coloured EPDM top layer. This construction delivers excellent cushioning and sound absorption while providing an attractive, non-marking surface with superior colour and UV stability.
Dual-Layer Rubber Safety Tiles
The lower SBR rubber layer provides the majority of the tile’s shock, impact and sound absorption. Its thickness can be increased to provide different levels of critical fall height protection, making EPDM RubbaTile particularly suitable for installation beneath and around playground equipment.
The upper EPDM rubber layer uses high-quality granules to create a durable, comfortable and visually attractive surface. Unlike standard recycled SBR tiles, the EPDM surface is non-marking and available in a wide selection of colours, making it particularly suitable for schools, playgrounds and leisure environments.
EPDM RubbaTile is available in 500mm x 500mm and 1000mm x 1000mm tiles, with standard thicknesses ranging from 40mm to 80mm.
Playground Safety & Performance
The EPDM surface is pressure moulded to produce a strong and durable finish with excellent UV stability. Our playground tiles are designed to meet the requirements of EN 1177 and BS 7188, providing a high-performance safety surface for children’s play areas.
The materials used in the manufacture of the tiles are non-toxic, while the EPDM surface helps prevent the release of black carbon associated with some conventional recycled rubber surfaces. This makes EPDM RubbaTile an excellent choice for environments where children regularly come into contact with the flooring.
Quick & Secure Installation
A wide-ribbed underside provides stability and enables the tiles to be installed over suitable prepared surfaces, including sand, or bonded directly onto concrete.
Tiles are supplied with plastic connection pins, allowing individual sections to be securely joined together for a fast and straightforward installation.
Ramped Edges & Corners
Alongside standard square tiles, we can supply ramped edge and corner tiles to create smoother transitions between the rubber safety surfacing and surrounding areas.
Ramped edges help improve wheelchair and pushchair access while reducing potential trip hazards around the perimeter of the installation. The ramp angle varies according to tile thickness, and thicker tiles may retain a slight lip.
Critical Fall Height Protection
Different tile thicknesses provide different levels of critical fall height (CFH) protection. Increasing the overall thickness of the SBR base layer increases impact absorption, enabling the safety surfacing to be matched to the height and type of playground equipment being used
