Product Description
Our open cell epdm sponge is an incredibly versatile, high-performance sealing material. It offers many of the same properties found in a closed-cell material in terms of durability as well as resistance to weathering, UV and Ozone deterioration. However, as an open cell material it offers superior flexibility and recovery without deformation when pressure is released. This makes it ideal for use in applications that require sealing or cushioning for irregular depths or non-uniform areas.
We supply this particular material in a 65 kg/m3 density as standard, in thicknesses ranging from 1mm to 40mm. We can also produce the material in a variety of formats such as; full rolls, sheets, strip cut lengths and bespoke gaskets. It is also possible to laminate the material or add adhesive backing to aid with installation.
A key feature of our open cell epdm sponge is the materials unique cell structure. Despite being referred to as an open cell material, this product actually utilises a semi-closed cell structure. This enables it to combine the physical characteristics of a fully open cell material with the sealing capabilities of a closed cell material. At 80% compression this material can create an air and watertight seal. This makes the material suitable for use in a wide variety of high pressure sealing applications.

Material Conversion Possibilities
Here at The Rubber Company we can utilise a variety of sponge rubber conversion tools and techniques. This enables us to cut, shape, drill, join and laminate our materials to match your exact requirements. Rubber sponge materials are manufactured in large blocks, so it is necessary to convert these blocks into usable end products. Our dedicated team can work directly with you every step of the way. This ensures that we use the best methods in order to achieve your desired shape and finish.
