Product Description
Our foam shock pad underlay provides a durable, impact-absorbing base layer for artificial grass, playground surfacing, sports areas and other outdoor flooring applications. Manufactured from closed-cell polyethylene bonded foam, the underlay combines excellent shock absorption with efficient drainage, helping to create a safer, more stable surface.
The interlocking puzzle-lock design enables individual shock pads to connect securely without the need for adhesive. This makes installation quick and straightforward while creating a stable, continuous base layer across larger areas. Tiles can also be easily cut around playground equipment, posts and other obstacles.
Particularly suitable as an underlay for artificial grass, the foam pads help create a smooth and level surface while providing additional cushioning beneath the finished installation. This makes them a popular choice for schools, children’s playgrounds and recreational areas, where improved impact protection can help reduce the risk of injury from trips and falls.
Impact Absorption & Critical Fall Height Protection
Our playground shock pad underlay is designed to provide additional impact absorption beneath artificial grass and other suitable safety surfacing.
The pads are tested to EN 1177:2008, with critical fall heights ranging from 1.2 metres up to 3 metres, depending on the thickness selected and the supporting sub-base. This enables the appropriate shock pad system to be selected according to the required level of impact protection.
Please note: 12mm shock pad tiles are not suitable for critical fall height applications. This thickness is designed primarily for creating a smooth, cushioned and level base on areas such as roof terraces and balconies.
Excellent Drainage Performance
Regularly positioned drainage holes allow rainwater and other liquids to pass efficiently through the underlay. This helps prevent standing water beneath artificial grass, playground surfacing and sports surfaces, supporting effective drainage and helping to maintain the appearance and performance of the finished installation.
Quick & Simple Installation
The interlocking puzzle system allows the shock pad tiles to be fitted together quickly to create a secure and stable surface. No adhesive is required to connect the individual tiles, and the material can be cut where necessary to accommodate equipment and irregular areas.
Two tile sizes are available, providing greater flexibility during installation. Larger 2.25m x 0.9m tiles are ideal for quickly covering extensive areas such as sports pitches and playgrounds, while the more compact 0.98m x 0.98m tiles are easier to handle and particularly useful for smaller or more intricate installations.

Additional Benefits
As well as providing shock absorption and drainage, the polyethylene foam construction offers useful thermal insulation and sound absorption properties. This makes the shock pad underlay suitable for roof terraces, balconies and other applications where cushioning, acoustic performance and a more even finished surface are required.
