Product Description

Our reticulated polyester foams are high quality, open cell materials. They are based from polyurethane foam with a flame retardant additive to confirm to FMVSS 302 standards. The material combines excellent chemical and fuel resistance, good elongation and tear strength properties. This makes the material ideal for use in a wide range of demanding applications and environments. Our polyester foam is available in a variety of densities from 23 – 36 kg/m3 with pores ranging from 10 – 80ppi. We can supply this material in sheets or 15m rolls with thicknesses as high as 450mm depending on the grade required.

Polyester foams are typically similar to polyurethane foams in appearance, however the materials actually perform quite differently. A key feature of polyester is the materials chemical resistance, particularly when in contact with hydrocarbons or alcohols. Polyesters feature a finer cellular structure on average, which tends to result in a more uniform appearance.

The highly versatile structure and properties found in polyester foams makes them suitable for use in a wide range of applications. We typically supply this material for use in applications that require sound absorption, cushioning and vibration damping. They are also commonly used in gasketing and sealing applications where low air permeability is required.

Material Conversion Possibilities

Here at The Rubber Company we can utilise a variety of sponge rubber conversion tools and techniques. This enables us to cut, shape, drill, join and laminate our materials to match your exact requirements. Rubber sponge materials are manufactured in large blocks, so it is necessary to convert these blocks into usable end products. Our dedicated team can work directly with you every step of the way. This ensures that we use the best methods in order to achieve your desired shape and finish.
