Product Description
Lathe cut gaskets offer a quick as well as cost efficient alternative to our moulded or die cut manufacturing processes. As the name suggests, we produce our lathe gaskets by inserting a rubber tube into a mandrel. The mandrel is then turned on a high-speed lathe machine, which enables us to quickly produce precision cut gaskets. This ensures that almost 100% of the material is used, resulting in greater yields at a reduced cost.
We typically use the lathe cutting method in applications that require a bevelled edge or tight tolerance. However, it is also suitable option for producing gaskets with either a large outer diameter or a small inner diameter. Lathe cut gaskets are generally the best choice for use in applications that require a static seal. They also have the ability to maintain their design and shape even while under continuous stress. This enables them to provide consistent performance across a long service life.
We are able to produce lathe cut gaskets from tubing with a wide variety of outer diameters from 6mm to 500mm. We can also produce gaskets with thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm. Most rubber compounds can be cut using the lathe method. However, it is worth noting that very soft or very hard materials may not be suitable. If required, we can manufacture mandrels in order to produce bespoke gaskets to your exact specifications.
