Product Description
Our neoprene sponge rubber gaskets are the ideal solution for use in a number of industrial sealing applications. All of these gaskets feature a closed cell structure as standard. This is excellent for providing an air and watertight seal, requiring minimal rates of compression. Neoprene is typically chemically inert, as well as providing good resistance against oils. It also provides moderate resistance against petrol and hydrocarbon deterioration. This ensures that our gaskets are able to provide a long service life, even in hazardous and abrasive applications.
Aside from offering good resistance, our neoprene sponge rubber gaskets also provide a number of useful mechanical properties. Neoprene sponge gaskets combine flexibility with a high level of strength. This results in a gasket which offers excellent rates of compression as well as being able to seal uneven surfaces. Neoprene gaskets also feature a wide operating temperature range, which particularly good low temperature resistance.
The Rubber Company can manufacture our neoprene sponge rubber gaskets in virtually any shape or design in order to match your unique requirements. We use a variety of cutting and manufacturing equipment, which enables us to tailor each job to the material and gasket shape. This results in consistent, high quality gaskets every time. We can also offer material advice if you are unsure which material best suits your application. With over 100 years of experience, there are very few applications that we aren’t familiar with.
Material Grades
We can manufacture our neoprene sponge gaskets from a variety of different material compounds and grades. This ensures that you can always get the properties you need, without spending extra on properties you don’t need. Below is a list of our most common neoprene sponge grades. Don’t hesitate to get in contact with us if you are unable to find a suitable material.
Closed Cell Neoprene Sponge
This is our most common neoprene sponge rubber grade. It combines good UV and ozone resistance with excellent chemical and oil resistance. These properties make the material perfect for use in a number of automotive and industrial sealing applications. We can supply this material in densities ranging from 140 to 1900 kg/m3 as well as a variety of thicknesses from 1mm to 40mm as standard.
EPDM & Neoprene Sponge Blend
This is a unique co-polymer of EPDM and neoprene rubber, which results in incredibly durable and versatile material. It combines the excellent outdoor weathering resistance of EPDM with the oil and chemical resistance of neoprene. These properties make this gasket material ideal for use in sealing applications that require a degree of fuel, oil and chemical resistance. We typically supply this material in a variety of densities from 115 to 155 kg/m3 as well as thicknesses ranging from 1mm to 40mm as standard.
Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge
As the name suggests, our flame retardant neoprene sponge grade has been specifically developed to provide superior fire resistance. When you combine this with already impressive oil resistance you get a material that is perfect for use in virtually all automotive sealing applications. We supply this material in a selection of densities from 130 to 170 kg/m3 as well as thicknesses ranging from 1mm to 40mm as standard.
